The company, the name, and the One Three Four mantra.

Simon Carter; founder and principal consultant

Simon Carter is the founder and principal consultant of One Three Four. He set up One Three Four in 2003 to help firms share know-how effectively with their clients.

One Three Four project-teams are drawn from a network of trusted associates with specific skills (e.g. writing training, research interviews, web 2.0 technology, automating Micrososft Office templates). Simon has extensive experience of investment banking and law-firm projects that involve concept development, internal consultation and consensus building, end-client research, and working with technology teams.

Simon was previously a shareholding director of communication business, Thumb, that focused on business-to-business communication and branding (30 people, £3m annual turnover). Simon was a member of the management team that sold Thumb to Nettec, a digital-services business, in 1999.

The company name and mantra

We believe that dialogue with clients drives strong client relationships and healthy revenues, because without good dialogue you can’t keep the relationship alive.

We'd even go so far as to say that without the right kind of dialogue a firm will lose touch with its clients, and runs the risk of breaks in relationships.

Our company name is a simple mantra that we keep in mind whenever we’re helping our clients to find more effective ways to promote dialogue with their clients.

The mantra goes like this:

One clear message.

Three supporting points.

And at least four ways to continue the conversation.
